fracture of thigh bone or femur(longest bone in body) is considered as a major injury and is associated with internal blood loss.. in less then 2 years of age it is managed with hip spica. more then 2 years and less then 5 it requires traction splint if minimally displaced.In cases of displaced fractures it requires TENS nail. In more then 15 years of age intramedullary interlocking nailing is required.
