Description

A common painful condition affecting the lower spine. Lower back pain is caused by a muscle (strain) or ligament (sprain). Common causes include incorrect lifting, poor posture, lack of regular exercise, broken bones, ruptured discs, or arthritis. Often the only symptom is lower back pain. Most lower back pain resolves on its own within two to four weeks. Physical therapy and pain medication can help. In some cases, surgery may be necessary. Neck pain or cervical pain can last from days to years depending on the cause. Common causes include physical strain, poor posture, mental stress, osteoarthritis, spinal stenosis, herniated disc, pinched nerve, tumors, and other medical conditions.
